Sound familiar?

You were the expert.
Now you depend on people
with expertise you don’t have.

Before you were a manager, you were brilliant at something specific. You were the person people came to. Your confidence came from your expertise — and that expertise was real.

Then you were promoted. Suddenly you are responsible for developers, analysts, specialists and consultants whose domain knowledge you don’t share. The ground that always felt solid — knowing exactly what good looks like — has shifted. And nobody prepared you for that.

01
You’ve lost your expert identity
Your confidence used to come from knowing more than most. Now you manage people who know more than you in their fields — and that quiet uncertainty is harder to admit than anyone realises.
02
No support for the transition
You were promoted because of what you achieved. But the skills that got you here — technical brilliance, individual output, domain expertise — are not the skills that make someone an effective leader. And the gap between them is rarely acknowledged, let alone addressed.
03
Running on empty
You are carrying more responsibility than feels manageable. The pressure of being accountable for people and outcomes — without the inner tools to hold it all sustainably — is exhausting in a way that is hard to explain.
04
Lost the thread of what matters
The meaning that used to drive you — the satisfaction of being really good at something — has been replaced by a constant low-level uncertainty about whether you are doing any of this right.

None of this means you are not cut out for leadership. It means the transition from expert to leader is one of the most significant — and most under-supported — shifts in any professional’s career. That is what Positive Psychology Coaching can help.

Meet Eddie

I have spent 20 years trying
to help people succeed.
Coaching is where that
finally has a name.

Throughout my career in senior leadership across IT and Investment Management at organisations including the Church Commissioners of England, Millennium Global Investments and the Pioneer Investments (now Amundi) — I hired and worked with hundreds of people. Developers, analysts, project managers, consultants and SME's.

My job, as I always saw it, was to make the people around me successful. To find what someone was genuinely great at and build around it. To help the whole team work and succeed together.

I also experienced first-hand what happens when the support isn’t there. That combination — the satisfaction of watching people flourish, and the frustration of watching the system and poor management fail them — is what brought me to coaching. I now hold an MSc in Applied Positive Psychology & Coaching Psychology, am a Certified Applied Positive Psychology Coach (CAPPC) and ICF ACC accreddited.

Why positive psychology coaching

Not motivation. Not quick fixes.
The actual science of flourishing.

Positive psychology is a rigorously researched field in modern science. Every framework used in my coaching has been tested, validated and replicated — producing measurable, lasting results rather than temporary inspiration.

PERMA Model

Seligman’s validated wellbeing framework — the primary measure of progress across all programmes. You start with a baseline and end with evidence of change.

VIA Character Strengths

A precise, evidence-based assessment of what you do naturally well — and a practical framework for deploying those strengths more deliberately in your role and your team.

ACT & Flow Theory

Psychological flexibility, values-based action and the conditions for optimal performance — tools that produce genuine, lasting change rather than temporary improvement.

What clients say

“Working with Eddie over the past several months has been transformative for me at work and at home. When we started, I was struggling with stress, finding it hard to switch off, and often bringing work home mentally. Eddie helped me put in place practical tools and clearer boundaries between work and home. I now feel much more grounded, present and calm, even when things are challenging. I handle pressure very differently: instead of reacting from stress, I’m able to pause, think and respond more thoughtfully. This has improved both my performance and my overall wellbeing. Eddie combines warmth, insight and practicality in a way that made me feel both supported and constructively challenged. I’d highly recommend Eddie to anyone wanting to improve their wellbeing and performance in a sustainable way.”
